PMP® Exams are taken at Prometric Centers where SmartPath LLC provides training for individuals and or organizations.

WA, VA, DC, MD, MI, NJ State Exam Takers:
In WA State there is one center in Puyullup, and one in Mountlake Terrace in Western Washington, and a you will find 1 or 2 in Spokane, WA. Places in Portland, Eugene, Medford, OR and Michigan are also listed.
PMP Exam Centers in VA's DC Metro area are available in Falls Church, Glen Allen, VA, & DC and many places in MD, WVA. For DC & VA people, MD is close by and has lots of options in Silver Spring, Baltimore, Towson that usually offer lots of exam dates.
Instructions - How to find an Exam date
a. Go to prometric.com to find exam sites.
b. Select "P" under Professional Exams
c. Click on PMI-Project Management Institute, then immediately on the big orange button to the right. You may request seat availability first if you wish. That is what most do in order to see best selectons. The PMP Exam is a 4 hour Exam.
What if the dates you want are not close enough?
Get up early in the morning and check out the actual exam dates available in their selection menu. PMs are constantly changing their exam dates. This works most of the time. You may have to check several mornings.
SmartPath LLC does not include the Exam Fees in their Course Fees unless you are purchasing a Plus Package, and we only provide this service to Government agencies or WorkSource / Workforce partners.
You pay the Project Management Institute for the Exam Fees after they give you Exam approval to sit for the Exam. Approval usually takes between 3 to 5 business days. If you have the Plus package with us, call us once you are approved.
About Audits: A small percentage of applications are audited after you pay for the PMP Exam. This affects about 2% of PMP applications. It's not difficult to do. The audit requirements are usually:
(1) Provide a copy of high school or equivalency certificate, or college certificate. For example, if you have a Masters degree, just give a copy of that certificate
(2) Provide a copy of the PMP class certificate
(3) Have signed and sealed copies of each project that your hours were composed of. The manager or peer signs the forms that you download from myPMI, places them in a sealed envelope and signs the seal.
(4) Gather all of the requested information ASAP and overnight to the Project Management Institute. We suggest following up with customer service within 3 days to make sure they received it
A good practice would be to have your certificates ready and put the people who would verify your projects on alert just in case, so you get through the audit process as quickly as possible. Expect about a week to ten days delay before you will be released to schedule your exam. It will take you longer if you don't have copies available. As much as possible, use people who are close by for your project references.
